Verona Quartet To Perform 3 World Premieres, including centennial commissions at the Smithsonian’s Freer Gallery

The Verona Quartet will premiere Texu Kim’s string quartet Ritus Sanitatem, co-commissioned by Texas Performing Arts (performance March 3) and the Smithsonian’s Freer Gallery (performance March 8), Cheng Jin Koh’s Mountain of Echoing Halls for string quartet and yangqin (Chinese hammered dulcimer) for a world premiere at the Smithsonian’s Freer Gallery March 8, and Derek David’s String Quartet No. 4, “Kaddish” on March 18 at MIT. The Smithsonian premieres were highlighted with multimedia elements as part of the celebrations for its centennial, see here.

Danbi Um Duo Violin Performances with Paul Huang in Cleveland and San Francisco

Violinist Danbi Um’s popular duo program with violinist Paul Huang, together with pianist Amy Yang, is making two upcoming appearances with the Cleveland Chamber Music Society (February 21) and Chamber Music San Francisco (March 5). Their program combines favorites in the repertoire such as Sarasate’s Navarra with newer works including Chris Rogerson’s Afterword that Danbi, Paul, and Amy premiered at Wolf Trap in February 2020.

Violist Paul Neubauer will be featured in the full set of Brandenburg Concertos presented by the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, including performances in Chicago December 14 and New York City’s Alice Tully Hall December 16, 18, and 20. Verona Quartet From Coast to Coast

Following a month-long residency at LAMP in Nova Scotia this month, the Verona Quartet will tour the US from coast to coast! Starting with a residency October 27-30 at Eureka Chamber Music in beautiful Northern California, the quartet heads to Clemson University’s esteemed Utsey Chamber Music series on November 1 for a program of Beethoven, Dvorak, and Bacewicz’s first piano quintet.
